a5c7b9f00b Walking home with her 12-year-old daughter after midnight on the Fourth of July, Teena crosses paths with some local losers to be brutally gang raped with her daughter Bethie watching. Bethie is able to identify the rapists, but when the rapists hire a hot shot attorney who attacks Teena's character, Dromoor, a local police officer who was first on the scene when police were called, starts to take matters into his own hands. A gulf war veteran seeks vengeance against those who assaulted a single mother. Acting is very good. Nicolas though is severely underused. Wasted even. The movie starts off very promising, like a space rocket taking off. The plot advances and just when you expect the movie to jump into high gear it only sputters, fizzles, and rapidly loses altitude. Finally showing to be a dud with a script that simply goes nowhere. Feels like a made for TV cop show movie. The failing is not the actors. They were all very good. The script is to blame.

If you have time to kill with nothing else to watch then OK. Watch it for the acting. Otherwise, pass. The movie itself isn't horrible. Its not great or memorable either. Pretty lazy actually. It doesn't push boundaries or take us anywhere we haven't already been someone nailed it earlier when they said if there is nothing else on then this could be worth a watch.

My biggest issue with this movie was the incredibly stupid court scene. Don Johnson plays a suave lawyer who makes the boot DA look like a chump. The judge is entirely dismissive of the rape victim and treats her so poorly that she would end up a millionaire after all the lawsuits were done. At the end of this horribly written scene, Johnson stands and gives some speech presenting an alternate version of what happened that is so implausible a band of chimps wouldnt buy it. Instead of being tossed out of court, Johnson is applauded everyone in the room. Its a head scratching moment that really makes you wonder if the writer had ever been in a court. Well i have bern in plenty and have never seen anything remotely close to that.

All in all, if you keep your expectations low, you wont be disappointed. Going into any Cage movie, they should be low anyways.
